Balance looks different for every family.

At Balanced Beginnings, I offer compassionate, individualized lactation support tailored to your needs. You may be planning ahead during pregnancy, navigating the newborn stage, or facing feeding challenges months in. Whatever stage you’re in, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

About Me

Hi, I’m Rachel Jordan, founder of Balanced Beginnings Lactation Consulting. I’m an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Atlanta native, and mother. My background includes working as a nanny, as a labor and delivery nurse, at a fertility clinic, and as a hospital-based lactation consultant. My years of experience have taught me this: every mom, baby, and family is unique. I believe that lactation care should be personalized, compassionate, and evidence based. If we work together, please know that I am here for you, and I will always take your preferences and your baby’s temperament into account when developing your individualized care plan. I know firsthand how overwhelming the early postpartum days can be and how crucial it is to have support you can trust. My goal is to meet you wherever you are and provide calm, practical, evidence-based support that reduces stress and builds confidence.

Outside of my life as a lactation consultant, I am passionate about sustainability and am always trying to learn something new. On the weekends, you can often find me at Dekalb Farmers Market, experimenting with plant-based recipes, or heading out to spend time in nature. I also spend a lot of time keeping up with my energetic 2-year-old daughter and ornery 9-year-old Golden Retriever, and I rarely miss an episode of Survivor.

Services

Payment and Insurance Info

At this time, I am a self-pay practice, which means payment is due at the time of service. I do not bill insurance directly, but I’m happy to provide a superbill (a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for possible partial reimbursement).

Coverage varies by plan, so I always recommend checking with your insurance company about out-of-network lactation services and what's needed for reimbursement.

If you have any questions about using a superbill or how to request reimbursement, I’m here to help walk you through it!

Home Visit Area

I currently offer in-home lactation support within a 10-mile radius of Atlanta. This includes much of the city and nearby neighborhoods.

If you're just outside that range, I may still be able to come to you! A small travel fee may apply for visits beyond 10 miles, depending on your location.

Not sure if you're within the area? Just reach out! I'm happy to check and let you know. And if an in-home visit isn’t possible, we can always connect virtually or I can help you find a trusted referral closer to home.
