Balance looks different for every family.

At Balanced Beginnings, I offer compassionate, individualized lactation support tailored to your needs — whether you're planning ahead during pregnancy, navigating the newborn stage, or facing feeding challenges months in. You don’t have to figure it out all alone.

About Me

Hi, I’m Rachel Jordan, founder of Balanced Beginnings Lactation Consulting. I’m an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), former labor & delivery nurse, Atlanta native, and mother.

I know firsthand how overwhelming the early postpartum days can be — and how crucial it is to have support you can trust. My goal is to meet you wherever you are and provide calm, practical, evidence-based support that reduces stress and builds confidence.

Whether you're hoping to exclusively breastfeed, combo feed, pump, or you're still figuring it all out — I’m here for you.

Services

  • Initial Home Visit - $250

This is a 90-minute, hands-on session in your home where we’ll dive into everything — your feeding experience so far, any concerns you have, and how things are going for both you and your baby. I’ll assess latch, positioning, milk transfer, baby’s oral anatomy, and we’ll create a individualized care plan together with your personal goals in mind.

Follow Up Home Visit - $175

A 60-minute check-in to see how things are going. We’ll troubleshoot any new or ongoing challenges, adjust your plan as needed, and talk through whatever’s on your mind. These are great for continued support or when something new comes up.

  • Initial Virtual Consult - $250

Prefer meet virtually or live outside my travel area? This 90-minute video session offers the same expert care and guidance as an in-person visit. We'll discuss your full feeding history, observe a feeding, and work together to develop a tailored care plan.

Follow Up Virtual Consult - $175

A 60-minute online session to revisit your feeding goals, check in on baby’s progress, and fine-tune your plan. Perfect for ongoing support or new questions that pop up along the way.

  • Prenatal Consultation - $200

Whether this is your first baby or your fourth, feeding your little one can come with a lot of unknowns. This 60 minute in-person session is all about preparing you — with knowledge, confidence, and a realistic plan for those early days.

We’ll chat about what to expect in the first hours and weeks after birth, how milk production works, how to know if baby is getting enough, and what’s normal (and not-so-normal) when it comes to feeding. We’ll also talk through your questions, your goals, and any past experiences you want to share.

You’ll leave this visit feeling more confident, with a personalized plan and some practical tips to help things go more smoothly when baby arrives.

Bonus: Clients who book a prenatal visit get priority scheduling for postpartum consults.

    Email & Text Support - $50/week

Need continued guidance but don’t require a full session? Get weekday access to expert advice via text or email. Perfect for quick questions, reassurance, or updates between visits.

This service is available as a stand-alone option after at least one full consultation. One week of ongoing support is included with consultation.

Payment and Insurance Info

At this time, I am a self-pay practice, which means payment is due at the time of service. I do not bill insurance directly, but I’m happy to provide a superbill — a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement.

Coverage varies by plan, so I always recommend checking with your insurance company about out-of-network lactation services and what's needed for reimbursement.

If you have any questions about using a superbill or how to request reimbursement, I’m here to help walk you through it!

Home Visit Area

I currently offer in-home lactation support within a 10-mile radius of Atlanta — this includes much of the city and nearby neighborhoods.

If you're just outside that range, I may still be able to come to you! A small travel fee may apply for visits beyond 10 miles, depending on your location.

Not sure if you're within the area? Just reach out — I'm happy to check and let you know. And if an in-home visit isn’t possible, we can always connect virtually or I can help you find a trusted referral closer to home.
